Whatever location mode you choose ("Hidden Objects" or "Match 3"), you upgrade the location to a new level with each subsequent completion of the location.
To upgrade a location, you need to successfully complete this location. The location upgrade bar is displayed in green in the Progress bar in the location entrance window and the window of rewards for its successful completion.
