In the Shop and the Inventory, the Talismans section contains items that give extra resources you get during the game or other bonuses.
You can tap a Talisman's icon to display the description of this Talisman's effects.
You can use a Talisman by tapping the "Use" button. After that, the active Talisman and the timer of its effect is displayed on the right-hand bar on the Map.
After the active Talisman expires, you can use another Talisman of the same kind if you have it in your Inventory, or go to the Shop to buy a new Talisman.
You can get Talismans for assembling collections and obtaining Relics, playing through Diary stories and meeting Special Event goals.
