How do match-3 levels work?

The match-3 level screen contains the following:

1. Objects: for various match-3 combinations
2. Remaining moves indicator
3. Goals: complete these to finish the level
4. Tools: you can use them on objects
5. Reward chest containing the useful items you can get for beating the level
6. Main Menu button.
